About the Name
The name "singlepilot" is a theological statement. Growing up, I remember seeing multiple bumper stickers declaring that "Jesus is my Copilot" (although modern stickers tend to add on to the original phrase, with various levels of vulgarity and nonsense). It is a decent sentiment in declaring that you are intentionally living life with God, but it misses the point.
Romans 10:9 declares that "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (English Standard Version, emphasis mine). American Christians talk a lot about belief in Jesus, but I find that not enough people talk about the first part. This "Lordship" over earth (which Jesus attained after his resurrection, as stated in Matthew 28:18 and Ephesians 1:19) is not a minor thing. It means that Jesus has absolute authority over those who surrender to Him. Jesus is not just a helpful voice guiding you through decisions. He is not merely giving good advice for us to take under consideration. Jesus is making mandates, and those who are serious about following Him must obey. Granted,We are given leeway in choosing many things in our life. This free will is something God specifically designed us for, despite it being the trait that makes the evil in the world possible. Nevertheless, Jesus, being both Lord and God Himself, has ultimate say.
There can only be one pilot in our life, and God does not share. Considering how well we have done for ourselves for the past few millenia, it is just as well that he does not.
